Co-Op Talk: Mariela Ortiz Pérez @ Weiss/Manfredi

said by: Caroline Bozzi

I met Mariela at Rohs Street Cafe for coffee and we talked bout her Co-Op experience at Weiss Manfredi. Mariela, a current graduate student, is originally from Puerto Rico and was attracted to the University of Cincinnati because of the Co-Op program. She co-oped at Perkins and Will in Washington D.C., Weiss Manfredi in New York City, and then spent her last Co-Op term traveling in Europe. She is a straight talker who can always get me laughing. She is proof that if you are willing to work for it, you can create what you want and you can do it your way.

Mariela shares how this co-op was a transition away from a working in corporate design firms, what is was like to work with passionate hard working people (and work in an office without a microwave! lol.)

This time for the Co-Op Talk column, I recorded the audio of our conversation for you. It may or may not give you more insight of Mariela and what it was like to work at Weiss Manfredi, or you may better understand the chaos of the clinking dishes and bells going off in the coffee shop - that's for you to decide.
